Great news from Lynnette Gandl of Wandrlyn Belgians…
“Cami” finished her CD title on Holloween at the Bloomington, MN dog training club trial. First place and a 195 score in Novice B! She also received a special trophy for HS Novice with a rally title. The efforts of Lynnette are making all of us Laeken folks PROUD!
No photo submitted, but Cami is now officially known as Wandrylyn’s Ozark Chameleon RN CD
As usual, Kelly Goodman and “Fame”are out there making their presence known. Fame earned his Novice Standard title with 3 first places in mid November trying his paw at the NADAC BRAG trial. The photo below is of Fame and his AKC ribbons earned for his NAP, NJP, OAP and OJP titles. Very colorful Kelly and Fame! J

2009 brought more titles to the Belgian Laekenois than 2008, the first year they were allowed to compete in AKC performance events. Let’s see what 2010 brings!! –editor-
July/August Brags: Laekenois “WHISKEY” completed his PT title in mid June in Omaha. From Lynnette Gandl, “Whiskey did very well as I expected (he is a gift from the herding gods). Whiskey’s shiny new PT replaces his HT!” Whiskey is now Wandrylyn’s Ozark Moonthine RN PT (Lynnette, picture for his next accomplishment?!) Good news from Carole Goetzelmann! She tells us that on June 26th “BALTO” finished his RA, on July 20, 2009 his RE and on August 2nd , his CD! Balto has had a very busy summer and has a lot of pretty ribbons. Carole thinks he wants to do agility now. Congratulations Balto, you are a true Laekenois Star!!
“FAME” and Kelly Goodman are always busy!!! Fame finished his AKC agility title OJP in July with a 1st and 2nd. He also earned 2 OAP legs with 1st places. Kelly says there were not many Qs that weekend for anyone but the heat was in the 90’s. Then on August 2nd Fame finished his OAP with another 1st place, at the Five Valley KC in Lolo, MT. Fame now has quite an alphabet soup both before and after his name! Huge congratulations to you Kelly.
GRCH U-AG1 Can CH Winjammer’s Wired To Win RE NA NAJ OAP OJP PT From Andrea Morton comes this news for us: “I have a great brag to share with the group. “SATCHMO” has earned his open titles in Standard and Jumpers this past weekend at the Dalmation Club of America and Clarksville KC sponsored trial in Murfreesboro TN July 31 through August 2nd. We had a great time and I am so proud of my boy. (Editor’s note: and well you should be Andrea! I’m wondering which of our Laekens will be the very first to earn AKC’s AX AXJ for Excellent agility titles?????)
Zarko’s Satchmo Van Morton OA OAJ _________________________________________________________________________________ “BLADE” “EMERIE” and Heidi Lund have been busy too……. Blade earned his ARCHEX (APDT) title on August 2 in Hugo MN. Heidi explains that the ARCHEX requirements are: 10 QQ in level 2 and 3 (advanced and excellent) with scores of 195 or above in both classes (out of 210) Emerie also acquired 3 QQ toward her ARCHEX title.
Blade is now: Grand Coeur’s Blade Runner May/June Brags: Summer draws near, and our Laekens are out in force making us proud! Kudos to owners, breeders, and most of all BELGIANS for the following successes: KATHY CHAMPINE reported in with the results from the fun match held at the BSCA Specialty. She tells us that everyone seemed to have a good time and that the judge, Linda Robey, was quite complementary about the quality of the dogs shown to her. She expressed disappointment that the Laekenois are not yet fully accepted and said her BOB, Bella, was worthy of earning an AKC championship. She also noted that despite the coat differences between the sisters entered their structure was very good and consistent amongst the four. WB BOW BOB-Wandrlyn Ozark Belle D’Avatar. KELLY GOODMAN writes that her Fame (now known as U_GRCH U-AGI Can CH Winjammers Wired to Win RE NA NAJ NAP NJP PT) earned his PT at the Colorado herding trials over the May 17, 2009 weekend! Kelly says the stock was great and the weather was gorgeous! (Editor’s Note: She thought she would have pictures for me by press time, but didn’t make it.)

Satch and ANDREA MORTON have been busy too! Zarko’s Satchmo Van Morton RN added the Novice rally title to his name on April 25, 2009 at the Clarksville Kennel Club in Nashville, TN. Good job Satch!!!
SHARRII HUNT and her Dyna don’t want to miss an issue!! The two of them spent the last weekend in May in Fletcher NC at the Asheville KC agility trial. Dyan finished her OA title with a 2nd place ribbon; beat out by a Doberman by just .10 of a second. Sharrii writes that she and Dyna really clicked as a team during that run. So Dyna is now Winjammers Wired to D’Eroudur NF OA OAJ. Congratulations to a SUPER team who has worked really hard and it shows!!! (Editor’s Note: I believe Dyna is the first Belgian Laekenois to finish both Open Agility titles, OA and OAJ )
Last year our Laeken were working on those Novice titles, and now the Open titles are starting to come! Middle-Earths Anduin River NA OAJ earned his Open Jumpers with Weaves title on Sunday May 24, 2009 at the Triunes agility trial in Lawrence Kansas. The AKC judge was Deborah Hunt Owner KAY WALDMAN says that River is not as happy as she is!! J
LYNNETTE GANDL has multiple brags again! Wandrylyn’s Gilded Lily d’Laek RN earned her novice rally title May 24, 2009 at the Key City Kennel Club held in St. Peter, MN. Not to be outdone by Lily, Kaya var Letsager RA added her Rally Advanced title at the same trial! Lynnette wrote that as always, everyone wanted to touch the coats!! (Lily is pictured below)
March/April Brags: The days are beginning to warm and lengthen and soon we’ll be entering dog events! Be sure to remember to send your brags to mybelgianboys@yahoo.com. If you do not have a photograph of the particular win, send another. We all enjoy sharing the precious wins and seeing the Laekenois who are accomplishing great things! PICTURED BELOW is Winjammer’s Wired to D’Eroudur NA OAJ at the the Charlotte NC trials the first weekend in March, 2009. “Dyna” earned her 2nd leg in Novice Fast, but decided the courses were much too fun to play as a team in Open Standard. She was having one heck of a good time! Sharrii and Dyna are going to Columbia for a 3 day trial the first weekend in April, and hope they will have something to brag about. If not, they plan to have a great time with all their friends and doggie buddies! Dyna is out there regularly, being a great ambassador for our breed. She is exceptionally friendly and loves to visit with new friends and acquaintances.
A LAST MINUTE BRAG in from Lynnette Gandl tells us that Lily and Kaya are out there showing off for the breed! ( Hopefully photos will follow before press time.) Lily who is formerly known as Wandrlyn’s Gilden Lily d’Laek now has two Rally Novice legs after minimal training. The first show was the Minneapolis Kennel Club held on February 22, the second, the Wright County Kennel Club on March 7, 2009. Lily is the mother of Cami RN and Whiskey HT, RN . Kaya , who is Kaya var Letsager RN, now boosts two Rally Advanced legs. In addition to Kaya’s Rally achievements, she and Lynnette participated in a musical freestyle workshop at the Pet Expo in Minneapolis. We should be hearing about new titles for Lily and Kaya very soon. Way to go Lynnette!
LATE BREAKING NEWS from Kelly Goodman and “Fame”: “Fame did very well in the Novice Preferred classes at the Idaho Falls AKC agility trials. He came home with 6 first places. No titles since he received all the Qs under the same judge, but he had some very nice runs. He does much better at 20” than 24:, so I think we will stick to the preferred level for awhile.” (Editors Note: I’ll say he does well at 20” !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations Kelly.)

January/February Brags: Performance events can be scarce in the winter months and we don’t have the abundance of brags we had last issue. Accolades go to those of you that are out competing regarding of weather and scarcity of trials. You are heroes! Pictured below is Zarko’s Satchmo Van Morton. Satchmo and his owner Andrea Morton have moved up to Open Agility and earned a leg in both Standard and Jumpers with Weaves. Won’t be long I’m sure until they will add their OA and OAJ titles!!!! Congratulations and keep up the good work and thanks for keeping our Laeken image out there.

Emerie also earned her ARCHX, rally champion excellent on January 31st. Blade had earned his ARCHX during the summer. Here is a photograph of the two of them holding their rosettes!!
